Rwanda Down Syndrome
Organization

Without awareness and advocacy for the rights of people with Down syndrome, they will continue to be stigmatized and left behind. This is where we come in. Since 2017, following its establishment with the support of Down Syndrome International, RDSO has been working with doctors and health professionals to identify people with Down syndrome, and to this day, we continue to support them in leading happy, healthy, and productive lives. Our overall objectives are as follows:

  • To ensure that partners are informed about what they need to know about Down syndrome and living with intellectual disability in Rwanda
  • To raise awareness amongst the general public about Down syndrome and life with an intellectual disability through events and social media
  • To set up a platform whereby youth with Down syndrome can showcase their skills
  • To advocate for the rights of people with intellectual disabilities in Rwanda

DSI

The Rwanda Down Syndrome Organisation (RDSO) was established in late 2016, the first organisation of its kind in Rwanda. Over the past year DSi has been providing financial assistance, advice and information to support RDSO’s growth as an organisation with an increasing range of activities.
